Art Therapy

"Art is the meeting ground of the
world inside and the world outside."
—Elinor Ulman
Creativity and self-expression are intrinsic parts of the human experience. Across cultures and throughout history, we have danced, sung, sculpted, painted, adorned our bodies, and told stories—not only to communicate, but to share knowledge and wisdom, to express and move through emotion, to connect, and to heal. We carry within us an innate need to create.
Artmaking and creative expression can be soothing, engaging, and deeply grounding. The process of creating can help bring us into the present moment, supporting emotional regulation and offering space for reflection and connection—with ourselves and with others. These naturally healing and restorative benefits are often referred to as art-as-therapy.
Art Therapy takes this a step further. It is a therapeutic approach that invites curiosity, playfulness, and mindful attention to the creative process. Guided by a trained therapist, it offers a supportive, non-judgemental space to explore subconscious material, process experiences, and express what can sometimes be difficult to put into words.
Creative arts-based processes can support self-expression, self-awareness, emotional resilience, and personal insight. Art Therapy can help you step back and gain perspective—or zoom in and gently unpack what feels important—all within a safe and contained therapeutic space.
You do not need to have any prior experience with artmaking or see yourself as “creative” to benefit. Art Therapy is not about making something “good” or “perfect.” It’s about expression, exploration, and being with whatever emerges.
Most importantly, Art Therapy is for EVERY BODY. It’s accessible, inclusive, and adaptable—offering a compassionate space for all people, of all abilities, identities and backgrounds, to connect with their own creative potential.
